RTJ for RSD! We're pretty psyched to announce that Run The Jewels are stepping into the role of RECORD STORE DAY AMBASSADOR for 2018. Killer Mike and El-P both have long histories with record stores, having spent their youth hanging out and letting the culture soak in and become part of the men and musicians they became. They also have a long history of celebrating RSD with a special release, and their Official Video Statement has a little sneak peek about what's coming from RTJ on Record Store Day 2018!
Widely considered one of the best records of the 1990s, R.E.M.'s Automatic For The People is being given the anniversary treatment and is in record stores now in Deluxe Double CD, Four CD/BluRay and 180g Vinyl versions.
“We’re All Gonna Live” is the first official live concert recording from Dawes via their own HUB Records (small business), pressed at Furnace Record Pressing (small business) and now coming out in record stores (small businesses) appropriately enough on Small Business Saturday! (11/25).
The band recorded the fifteen-song album during the first four shows of their 2017 “An Evening With Dawes” tour. The album contains live versions of audience favorites and new originals including “When The Tequila Runs Out,” “Roll With The Punches,” “A Little Bit of Everything,” “Things Happen,” and “All Your Favorite Bands.” Said Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes: “With this tour we've felt like we've begun to turn a corner as a live band, so we figured it was time to share some of it with everyone.”
Taylor said more than that when he hit up Grimey's New and Pre-Loved Music in Nashville, to talk about the importance of small businesses. Fortunately for us, there was a camera present!
DAWES will celebrate Small Business Saturday and the beauty of hanging out in record stores on 11/25 with an appearance at FINGERPRINTS MUSIC in Long Beach from 4 to 6 PM. Check in with Fingerprints for details!
The third album from Michigan rapper NF is high on the charts and that's before the vinyl even comes out. When it does, on 11/3, indie record stores will be the first place to get it. And for special fun, NF wrote twenty copies of his lyrics, and they've been inserted into random copies around the country.
