St. Vincent - Masseduction - Loma Vista
Every record I make has an archetype,” says Clark. “‘Strange Mercy’ was Housewives on Pills. ‘St. Vincent’ was Near-Future Cult Leader. ‘Masseduction’ is different, it’s pretty first person. You can’t fact-check it, but if you want to know about my life, listen to this record.” ‘MASSEDUCTION’ is the culmination of years of writing, with songs crafted from voice memos, text messages, and snippets of melodies that came to Clark while traveling the globe. Special guests on the album include Thomas Bartlett on piano, Kamasi Washington on saxophone, Jenny Lewis on vocals, and beat production from Sounwave. Greg Leisz and Rich Hinman add pedal steel, and Tuck and Patti Andress contribute guitar and vocals respectively on select tracks.
William Patrick Corgan - Ogilala - BMG Rights Management
As the founding member of THE SMASHING PUMPKINS, William Patrick Corgan has created one of the most acclaimed bodies of work in musical history having sold more than 30 million albums, and won multiple Grammy Awards in the process. For Ogilala, he teamed up with legendary producer Rick Rubin to make his most intimate body of work to date.
Robert Plant - Carry Fire - Nonesuch
Robert Plant's eleventh studio album, Carry Fire, is released via Nonesuch/Warner Bros. The album, produced by Plant in the west of England and Wales, melds unusual rhythms with naturalism. As with his 2014 album, lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar, the album features his band The Sensational Space Shifters. They are also joined here by special guests, including Chrissie Hynde.
Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile - Lotta Sea Lice - Matador Records
Kurt Vile: We ran into each other on the road in various continents and talked about the recordings. I guess it wasn’t till I had another tour booked for the following summer in Australia that we thought we should record as much as we can, no major goal to make it a full length but it came together that way because the vibe was so strong. I love working with Courtney, the collaboration was laid back with less pressure. Courtney Barnett: Now we finished the album, we dreamt up an amazing band which we’ve called THE SEA LICE (inspired by a Stella Mozgawa beach-side-story) and me n Kurt will be standing there out front with our guitars singing songs together. Songs from this album we did, a handful of our own songs from previous albums, maybe some old folk songs n what not. Harmonies and guitarmonies galore. Very collaborative. Lotta Sea Lice is the result of 8 days in the studio spread over almost 15 months when Courtney and Kurt’s respective touring schedules allowed for them to be in the same place at the same time.
Skinny Puppy - Remission: Remastered [LP] & Bites: Remastered [LP] - Nettwerk Records

Widely considered to be both The Smiths' finest work and one of the greatest albums ever made, ‘The Queen Is Dead’ has cast a significant influence over subsequent generations since it was first released in the summer of 1986. Now Warner Bros. Records can confirm details of a newly mastered and expanded version of the album that will be released on 20th October. The remastered album will be available in a couple of configurations: 3CD/DVD, 2CD and a 5LP Box Set.
Margo Price - All American Made - Third Man Records
A lot can change in a year: markets boom and bust, trends come and go, presidents get elected. In 2015, Margo Price was a country underdog just trying to keep enough gas in the tank to get to the next gig, but by the end of 2016, she was one of the genre’s most celebrated new artists and a ubiquitous presence on late night television and at major festivals around the world. It’s the kind of year most musicians can only dream of, and the arrival of Price’s spectacular sophomore album, “All American Made,” proves that she hasn’t taken a moment of it for granted. Delivering on the promise of her debut and then some, the record finds Price planting her flag firmly in the soil as a songwriter who’s here for the long haul, one with the chops to hang with the greats she so often finds herself sharing stages with these days. A prolific writer with a knack for candid self-reflection, Price has never had to look too far for inspiration, and on ‘All American Made,’ she and her songwriting partner/ husband, Jeremy Ivey, continue to depict the trials of everyday life with un inching honesty, painting poetically plainspoken portraits of men and women just trying to get by. Highs and lows, long nights and hard days, wild women and cocaine cowboys, politics and sexism, it’s all in there, singularly filtered through Price’s wry, no-bullshit perspective. Throughout the album, her contemporary take on classic sounds is at once familiar and daring, an infectious blend of Nashville country, Memphis soul, and Texas twang that tips its cap to everyone from Waylon and Willie (who makes a guest appearance) to Loretta and Dolly, all while flipping a middle finger to the cookie-cutter pop that dominates modern country radio. Rich with swirling pedal steel, honky-tonk rhythms, and Price’s stop-you-in-your-tracks vocals, ‘All American Made’ is deeply reverent of tradition even as it challenges conventions, a nuanced exploration of conflicted emotions for our deeply conflicted times.
Tyminski - Southern Gothic - Mercury Nashville
Tyminski (Dan Tyminski) will release Southern Gothic October 20 on Mercury Records Nashville. All 13 tracks on the album were co-written by Tyminski who describes the album as holding up a mirror to society without judgment or opinions. What started out as songwriting for other artists, resulted in the 14-time Grammy winner finding himself jealous to give up the songs he was writing and realizing that he had an opportunity to explore these songs within his own project.
Turnpike Troubadours - A Long Way From Your Heart - Bossier City Records
A Long Way From Your Heart is the fourth release from the fiercely independent outfit whose three previous albums received critical accolades while amassing a massive and highly passionate nationwide fanbase. With his vivid character sketches and blue-collar narratives, Evan Felker continues to solidify his place as one of the finest songwriters to come out of the dustbowl in recent years. Felker’s vocals are honest and affecting, combined with his virtuosic band mates – RC Edwards (bass), Kyle Nix (fiddle), Ryan Engleman (guitar), Gabe Pearson (drums) and Hank Early (pedal steel) – Turnpike Troubadours are a force. The band has achieved a rare feat with A Long Way From Your Heart by creating an album that is immediately accessible, yet continues to reveal greater depth upon each listen.
Bully - Losing - Sub Pop
While Bully's 2013 debut Feels Like tumbled headlong into the precarious nature of Alicia Bognanno’s young adult life, its follow-up Losing is their first for Sub Pop (which in many ways feels like their spiritual home; Bully’s sound is an outgrowth of the bands the label championed in the late ‘80s and ‘90s). Losing is a document of the complexity of growth: navigating breakups with sensitivity, learning not to flee from your troubles but to face them down no matter how messy they may be (“Well, this isn’t the summer I wanted,” she muses on “Blame,” before admitting that she’s trying to “cut down on booze and you”). Written as the group slowed down from touring constantly and Bognanno attempted to adjust to how different a home schedule is from a road schedule, her songwriting has matured from the quick one-two punches of Feels Like to tracks that contemplate the necessity of space in both song structure and emotion. Bognanno’s gruff yet dynamic voice is allowed to bloom, and it has a tenderness and openness to it here that’s new. There are multiple layers of wistfulness and care to her delivery of lines like “It just takes one disagreement for you to remember the one time I fucked up,” from “Spiral,” turning songs that could be one-dimensional kiss-offs into warm and complex expressions of regret.
Susan Marshall - 639 Madison - Madjack Records
One of the South's finest vocalists, international recording artist Susan Marshall began her career Off-Broadway as a leading soprano in the Rep-Company Light Opera of Manhattan. Shortly after moving back to Memphis in 1990 she began fronting rock-soul band The Mother Station and was signed to a record deal with EastWest / Atlantic Records. In 1994 they released their debut album "Brand New Bag" which peaked at #34 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock charts. Since then, Susan has released three critically praised solo albums - "Susan Marshall Is Honey Mouth", "Firefly" and "Little Red". Susan has toured all over the world as part of the Afghan Whigs as well as with Cat Power & The Memphis Rhythm Band, which included appearances on Austin City Limits, The Late Show w/ David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O'Brian, and the BBC's Later...with Jools Holland. Her new release on Madjack Records is titled "639 Madison". Recorded at world renowned Sam Phillips Recording Studio in Memphis, TN, the album includes Susan's interpretation of several classic songs including one new song written by Sam Phillips' son Jerry.
Cheap Trick - Christmas Christmas - Big Machine Records
Cheap Trick wants you to want them — for Christmas. The ’70s supergroup has just completed work on a holiday album, which will mark the band’s third release in just two years. News of the upcoming holiday album comes just one month after Cheap Trick released the album We’re All Alright. Last year, the band dropped the album Bang, Zoom, Crazy… Hello. In an interview with Orange Amps, longtime Cheap Trick bassist Tom Petersson revealed that the band finished recording a holiday album “about two months ago.” Petersson revealed the Christmas record will be released around Halloween and said it came out “great.” “We did one standard, and then all sorts of different songs on there, it’s really cool,” he said. “We’ve got a few originals, and we covered songs from artists that we really like which have done Christmas songs.” Because the album is all Christmas songs, Petersson said there was just one issue the band had in the recording studio. He joked, “The only confusing thing about recording this record, is that every song had the word Christmas in it, so we could never keep it straight during recording, trying to figure out which song was which; ‘Ok guys so let’s do the Christmas….. the sleigh song next.'” After four decades together, Cheap Trick shows no signs of slowing down. Petersson said it’s hard for him to explain the band’s natural creative drive, but he added that the bandmates still love recording and writing together. Tom also said the group is still striving to make “that perfect record,” which could be what keeps them going. The band has said they hope to continue to release one new album each year. In 2016, Cheap Trick was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
