Opening in 1985 and named Independent Retailer of the Year by the National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM) in 1996, Penny Lane has gone from eight retail stores throughout Los Angeles to the single current warehouse location in Upland, California. A true mom-and-pop operation, the original owner still runs the day-to-day operation. Current products include mostly used CDs, LPs, 45s, cassette tapes, DVDs, Blu-Ray and video games. November 2009 marked our entry into online sales through Amazon, where we have maintained a 100% positive customer feedback rating. Top prices are paid and house calls are made for large collections, while walk-in customers are welcome daily. In addition, other quality record vendors are invited to participate in the Penny Lane Record Swap Meet every Saturday. Employees over the years have consisted of a who's who of record store legends, many of whom remained for a decade or longer, and whose motivation was never financial. Why do we do it? Good question - it must be something in our blood. When you visit, we'll try not to get any on you.
