RSD DROPS INFORMATION (including a link to the store spreadsheet with changes)
PLEDGE REMINDERS
A few of you have asked for some clarification on things, so here are some important reminders:
1 IN-STORE SALES CAN NOT BEGIN BEFORE 8 AM EDT (or your timezone equivalent. As long as it's 8 AM July 17 on the East Coast, you are free to make in-person sales).
2 ONLINE SALES CAN NOT BEGIN UNTIL 1 PM EDT (this is a change for DROPS DATES in 2020 and 2021 and is a globally agreed-on time. This will change and return to 24 hours after the RSD event, probably by RSD Black Friday.) All other elements of the Pledge related to online sales are still in play: You can sell from a BRANDED site or account, one that you use year-round to sell new releases, and you must do it at a set price that does not break the Pledge agreement. NO AUCTIONS.
3 IT IS PERFECTLY FINE TO SHOW PICTURES OR POST LISTS OF WHAT YOU HAVE You just can't sell any of it until #1 above
COUCH CAMP
The Only Conference For Indie Music Retailers & Their Partners!
Once again, Record Store Day is teaming up with Music Biz to bring our now-annual Summer Camp gathering of the indie retail/physical music community from New Orleans to the internet! Join us from your home, your office, or even your couch, to talk about the state of indie retail and how we can work towards an even brighter future. We're also debuting an all-new, can't-miss trade show component allowing vendors to show off new physical music products!
If you (or what you do, sell or represent) belong in a record store, you belong at Couch Camp — so join us this August 2 through 5.

THE LIST
CHANGES TO THE LIST ARE NOTED ON THE UPDATED VERSION OF THE STORE LIST THAT YOU CAN DOWNLOAD BELOW. NOTE: ALL CHANGES ARE NOTED ON THE LAST TAB OF THE SPREADSHEET.
CHANGES THIS WEEK INCLUDE BJORK AND HEARTBREAKERS MOVING TO JULY 30 STREET DATE, MASTODON BECOMING AN INDIE EXCLUSIVE ON AUGUST 13
We try to spread the titles across a wide swath of genres, as well as including both older legacy artists and newer artists who might appeal to younger customers coming to a record store for the first time. There are almost 1300 stores participating in the United States, and you are all individual in your customer base and stock choices. We worked with an advisory group of your fellow store owners and buyers to make sure that the titles that did make the List belong there. Almost certainly, not all titles are going to be right for your store, please bring in those titles that make sense for your store and your community.
REMEMBER THAT PRE-ORDERS or HOLDS are NOT allowed and ARE A PLEDGE VIOLATION. Both customers and other stores are quick to make us aware of Pledge violations. Please make sure everyone doing your social media, your online pricing and your staff know this. PLEDGE VIOLATIONS COULD MEAN YOU WILL NO LONGER BE A PARTICIPATING RSD STORE.
Again the list is broken into three sections: RSD EXCLUSIVE, RSD LIMITED RUN/REGIONAL FOCUS and RSD FIRST. RSD Exclusive is those titles in runs over 1000 which will remain exclusive to participating Record Store Day stores. RSD Limited Run/Regional Focus is a category for nationally distributed titles with runs lower than 1000, or titles distributed, usually by stores themselves, only regionally or which will naturally have a strong following in one part of the country. RSD First means that a title is released at record stores on RSD or RSD BF but at some point in the future will be released to other retailers or Direct to Consumers.
The list is on the site in two ways: a PDF that you or your customers can print out and use as a Wish List or Shopping List and a comprehensive searchable list with more information and artwork*. You should feel free to download the artwork for titles you need for your own site--high res versions are available with a click.
Once again for your convenience we are providing you with a spreadsheet FOR STORE USE. Please use this for reference only, and do not post it publicly. As changes are made (and they always are) we'll update this spreadsheet and keep a running list of the changes on the last tab.
THIS IS A STORE VERSION of the spreadsheet because it contains information we don’t give to your customers—we don’t tell them distributor information or list pricing, so please make sure THIS VERSION OF THE LIST STAYS INTERNAL. We’re providing and updating this list for you as a courtesy. If this information gets leaked we will stop providing you this list. NOTE: These list prices are what we base the Pledge on, and what we use to determine if a store is violating the Pledge. WE DO NOT MAKE LIST PRICES PUBLIC.
There is a CUSTOMER VERSION OF THE LIST, and that’s a PDF that you can download from the site: www.recordstoreday.com
That PDF is updated daily as information changes.
*THE ARTWORK
The titles on our site have downloadable artwork attached to them, and you are free to use them on your own approved online listings. (SEE PLEDGE FOR MORE CLARITY ON WHAT IS APPROVED AND WHAT IS NOT)
