SOCIAL MEDIA BLACK FRIDAY HASHTAG: #RSDBF


THE STRFKR release which was on the #RSDBF list has been moved to 2015. More updates will come through your Think Indie or one-stop rep.

THE FANTOMAS release which was on the #RSDBF list has been moved to a 12/16 street date. Still coming, still exclusive to RSD stores, just a new street date. If you have any questions about your order, speak with your InGrooves or One-Stop rep. 

ALL ASPECTS OF THE PLEDGE APPLY TO THESE RELEASES AS WELL. DO not break your Pledge, doing so will result in repercussions.  

If your store or an employee of your store is listing titles on eBay we will find out because the general public gets REALLY REALLY angry about that, and reports it to us, usually using ugly language about us and the stores in general. Listing a title on eBay is the fastest way to destroy the reputation of your store, your fellow stores and Record Store Day. Is your quick $60 worth it? 

Pay special attention to your pricing—going more than 20% over List Price is the number one thing customers complain about to us, and it’s the primary way stores break the Pledge.  

Also, a reminder that no BF Releases should be sold in your stores prior to 8 AM EDT. (If you are not in the Eastern Time Zone, please do the math and sell at the appropriate time.)

We’re providing and updating this spreadsheet for you as a courtesy.  If our spreadsheet, as it is, gets leaked we will stop providing it.

As always, Record Store Day does not give or sell the releases to the stores. Stores order and receive the titles just like with any other new release through the year, through distribution, and in the case of RSD, our official distribution and one-stop partners. CHECK IN WITH THEM EVEN IF YOU’VE ORDERED:  we know that some titles are still available, including some titles that are getting pretty serious buzz right now (looking at you, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: The Awesome Mix, Vol. 1 cassette)

There will inevitably be titles that are being promoted as RSD Black Friday releases which do not appear on our list. There are many reasons a title may not be on our list, and we can’t stop distributors from setting any release dates they want. Social media and online blogs are not always crystal clear as to what’s an actual RSD title, and what’s not, or what’s available in the US or other countries. It’s something we all just have to work through. If you’re solicited on a title that’s not on our list, it’s completely your choice to bring it in. 

Also as with Record Store Day, you are free to order or not order whatever you choose from the official list. We have a lot of different stores involved, with varying niches, interests, specialties and customers. We try to have something for everyone.  We won’t go into all the ways that Black Friday is different from Record Store Day (there’s an FAQ on our website that does that - http://www.recordstoreday.com/Page/1210  , feel free to share that with employees and customers). But we will say that we are doing this as a way to mak e indie record stores a part of the biggest retail story every year. We don’t think there’s any reason your stores shouldn’t be a destination point for shoppers—almost everything you sell makes a perfect gift for giving and getting and we’ll be promoting your stores as the ideal holiday shopping locations throughout the fourth quarter.

For Record Store Day 2014, we worked with Frank Kozik to extend our line of RPM Vinyl figures to include the first ever figure modeled on an actual person, Mr. Nick Cave. There was a limited, one-time only run of 2500 and we have a couple hundred of them to offer you now. Why now? The documentary film about Nick Cave, 20,000 DAYS ON EARTH, is out and getting stellar press. ADDED VALUES

On www.recordstoreday.com <http://www.recordstoreday.com/>  we regularly promote upcoming value adds that we have worked with various labels to create. The ones we promote on the site are indie exclusives, and are available to you through your coalition, your chain or with your order from Alliance. Alliance gets an allotment of these to send to all Record Store Day participating stores who order the albums they are associated with from them. Keep in mind, though, that the allotments are limited, and will go first come first serve. Also, keep in mind that these value adds are created to be given out with the purcha se of the accompanying full length release, so they will only be going to stores who are stocking the new release. If you're not a new release store, then this promotion isn't for you.  On the site we are al ways careful to let people know that they should always check with their local store for availability. It is always your choice to stock any of the commercial or promotional pieces we promote on the site. Below are the street dates and titles we have added values for (as well as graphics to help you promote them, where we have those). STREET DATE 11/17 MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA We’ll have a 7” single with two tracks, which should be given out with either the new album HOPE or the album that came out in April, COPE. 

STREET DATE 11/17 DAVID BOWIE We’ll have a litho for the new David Bowie record. There are three covers for three formats of the release, and the litho has all the versions on it.
