Dogfish Head named Official Beer of Record Store Day
Exclusive compilation, poster, record player coming from off-centered brewery

Music has been a part of Dogfish Head since before Dogfish Head. When a 20-something Sam Calagione was hammering out a business plan for a brewery that used nontraditional ingredients, he was fueled by the music of Miles Davis, Guided by Voices and The Replacements.

Today, from the Music Series beers with the Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam, and Deltron 3030, to the record swap Analog-A-Go-Go, to the live original music every weekend at the pub, you could say that music is in Dogfish Head’s blood (or should we say beer?)

“Our brewery has been obsessed with music since long before we opened our doors,” Calagione says. “And these days, anytime I’m in the brewhouse, there’s something playing.”

So it’s a natural fit for a brewery that makes “Analog Beer for the Digital Age” to be the Official Beer of Record Store Day, a celebration of the unique culture of record stores and the special role they play in their communities.

Official Poster
With the help of concert poster artist Marq Spusta, Dogfish Head has created the Official Poster of Record Store Day. The limited-edition poster will be available for free at select stores and bars that sell Dogfish, as well as record stores participating in Record Store Day.

Compilation
On March 10, Dogfish will unveil a limited-edition compilation. “Music to Drink Beer To,” available on both vinyl and CD, was put together by longtime friends Sam Calagione and Adam Block of Sony Music’s Legacy Recordings and will feature a legendary lineup of off-centered musicians. Sam, who’s in the beer business and a raging music geek, and Adam, who’s in the music business and a raging beer geek, sat down over a few beers and a stash of vintage vinyl and picked some of their favorite tracks. The compilation will be released on Record Store Day at retailers across the country.

Record Player
Spusta’s art also will appear on a mini traveling turntable from Crosley. Featuring built-in stereo speakers and 3 speeds, the Dogfish Crosley will be given away as prizes at Dogfish Head events and for purchase at dogfish.com.

Stay tuned for more information and the compilation playlist, along with the hundreds of other Record Store Day releases, March 10.

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery
Dogfish Head makes off-centered ales for off-centered people. Since 1995, Dogfish has brewed with nonstandard ingredients such as raisins, chicory, maple syrup and grapes, changing the way people think about beer. Dogfish Head believes beer can have as much flavor, complexity, diversity, food-compatibility and ageability as the world's finest wines. To discover what we’re up to, visit www.dogfish.com.

Record Store Day
Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1,400 independently owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. There are Record Store Day participating stores on every continent except Antarctica.
