RECORD STORE DAY "CHAT ROOM"
Several years ago we instigated a space on the website where stores could go to talk to each other, primarily with the purpose of comparing stock after RSD. Our list is diverse, there are titles that one store will sell out of quickly, and another store will have leftover. Folks stopped using it, but recently some stores have encouraged us to bring it back, so we are. Our hope is that you can work out deals, trades, sales, between each other and then all stores and customers will be happy. We think this will help alleviate people’s feeling that they need to go to eBay and pay ridiculous prices for things. And it will reinforce that shopping at record stores is a regular thing, not a one-day thing. If you have titles still for sale in your store, stop calling them ‘leftovers’. They’re not. They’re still the same special pieces that people were looking for on Saturday. There’s no reason to perpetuate the idea that people should only come look for them on one day. If someone comes into your store a few days after Record Store Day and finds something special, that can’t be a bad thing.
*Record Store Day doesn’t play any part in these trades, but you should consider it a place of honor, shall we say, and play nice with each other. This is not the place to be hoarding or gouging, this is where stores can go to help each other.

PLEDGE REMINDERS FOR SALES AFTER RECORD STORE DAY:
It’s been a while since some of you signed the Pledge, so here are some bullet point reminders.
*Nothing can be sold online until 24 hours (8 AM EDT) the day after RSD. At that point it can only be sold on a site that is CLEARLY BRANDED as a store site, and one that is used all year long as a regular part of business. (That means you can’t create an online site specifically to sell RSD releases).
*Nothing sold online can be sold using auction pricing. Stores must set prices at no more than 20% above SLP both in-store and online.
ADDED VALUES
On www.recordstoreday.com we regularly promote upcoming value adds that we have worked with various labels to create. The ones we promote on the site are indie exclusives, and are available to you through your coalition, your chain or with your order from Alliance. Alliance gets an allotment of these to send to all Record Store Day participating stores who order the albums they are associated with from them. Keep in mind, though, that the allotments are limited, and will go first come first serve.
Also, keep in mind that these value adds are created to be given out with the purchase of the accompanying full length release, so they will only be going to stores who are stocking the new release. If you're not a new release store, then this promotion isn't for you. On the site we are always careful to let people know that they should always check with their local store for availability. It is always your choice to stock any of the commercial or promotional pieces we promote on the site. Below are the street dates and titles we have added values for (as well as graphics to help you promote them, where we have those). If you are not already getting added values directly from your coalition or chain, you can contact your Alliance rep to place an order. If you don't have an Alliance rep, contact Ken.Glaser@aent.com and he can start the process for you.
