Our list launch is coming up later this month. When it happens we will give you guys a version of the list for your own use, and artwork for all the titles. Please refrain from posting about titles until that happens.



ARTS & CRAFTS/RBSS BF COMPILATION

Because a lot of the releases for RSD and BF are limited and created just for the day, they can be a little expensive. We know that low cost releases are something that everyone is looking for. We are working with our partner/sponsors on creating releases that are special for your stores but also inexpensive (that can be easier when we're working with sponsors). The Sun Records compilations on RSD are one example (we work with Tito's on those) and this BF there's the first in a new series we're doing with our sponsor Red Bull Sound Select (See more about them and our other partner in this, the indie label Arts & Crafts below.) A full sell sheet for this 12" compilation (including artist bios and more info) can be found here, and this is available to order from THINK INDIE through 10/21. RBSS is also looking into working with stores in some market who bring this title in.

We are asking that when you do your ordering to consider this LOW COST, UNIQUE, EXCLUSIVE piece created by a partnership with an indie label, an active, enthusiastic sponsor and us just for stores on Black Friday. ABOUT THE RELEASE AND OUR PARTNERS ON IT:
This is the first in what will be a series of limited edition collaborative 12” releases in conjunction with Record Store Day. The goal of this series is to celebrate both the artists and curators connected to the Red Bull Sound Select program, through a collectable, limited edition vinyl release featuring quality gatefold artwork. This collection of six Canadian indie, electronic and R&B rising-stars was curated by the seminal Toronto-based indie label Arts & Crafts.

ARTS & CRAFTS
Founded by the seminal indie-rock outfit Broken Social Scene in 2003, A&C is as an independent record label, management firm, merchan- diser, and publisher worldwide. It has earned 21 JUNO Awards. Arts & Crafts has been called one of Canada's most important record labels. A&C recording artists include Feist, Broken Social Scene, BadBadNot- Good, Stars, and Chilly Gonzales to name a few.

RED BULL SOUND SELECT
Red Bull Sound Select is an accelerator for music artists. We support them by collaborating on ambitious projects and ideas; using the strength of our global network together with a collective of artists, creatives and events to accelerate their growth. The network consists of 18 city residencies, 200+ events each year, 250+ artists, 50 partners and a growing list of festivals like 30 Days and 3 Days in Miami.




METALLICA "BLACKENED FRIDAY" LISTENING PARTY OPPORTUNITY
Our current year Ambassadors, Metallica, are releasing their new album HARDWIRED ...TO SELF-DESTRUCT on Friday 11/18 (see the Indie Exclusive spreadsheet below for details on the Indie Exclusive Colored Vinyl Version)

They are holding BLACKENED FRIDAY events at record stores at midnight 11/17 (old school midnight sales!) or 11/18 across the country, and want you to be part of it too.  (Blackened is the name of the band's own label).

*Stores who are interested need to sign up below (WITH EVERY PART OF THE INFORMATION ASKED) and confirm that you'll be bringing in the new album to sell and will promote via social media using the hashtag and tools provided to you.

*Stores will be given promotional giveaway packs including posters, a CD sampler for instore play, stickers and GWP items to give to customers.

*Stores who hold MIDNIGHT sales will get an additional limited edition item to giveaway during the event.  (ALL KIT ITEMS WILL BE CONFIRMED PRIOR TO ARRIVAL). 

*The band will be promoting individual events to their MASSIVE fan club and through their social media.

INDIE EXCLUSIVE SPREADSHEET 
Increasingly throughout the year labels are releasing indie exclusive versions of titles, whether it's a color variant or bonus tracks, or even sometimes a format completely exclusive to indie record stores. These are now so frequent that we've started working with them to compile them in one spreadsheet we'll update and send you every week. This is in addition to the solicitations from your distro and one-stop reps. We'll give you as much information as we can, but you are NOT ordering from us, and your rep will almost always have more information. 

This week's spreadsheet can be found HERE. It contains releases that are ALREADY OUT but still available to order. Releases that are coming soon that are available to order. Releases that you can start taking pre-orders on and PROMOTING to your customers once you've placed your order.  Other things to know:

*When an exclusive is available through a one-stop, we'll list that. Sometimes these are only available to direct accounts but we're going to list them because they are exclusives.

*When a street date is in YELLOW, that means it's coming on a Vinyl Tuesday release date. Two awesome things in one.

*Some of these are limited, some REALLY limited and will sell out. Act fast.

Use the hashtag #vinyltuesday so it’s easy for us to find them and show the labels who are helping us by releasing things on Tuesdays. Also, if you’re feeling lazy or time-deprived, feel free to share our social media posts and tweets about the titles..

The whole simple idea behind VINYL TUESDAY: CREATING MID-WEEK STORE EXCITEMENT WITH TUESDAY RELEASES. We are working on releases and promotions for you to talk about on social media during the week, giving your customers reasons to visit you then as well as on the weekend. These might be the same sorts of promotions we do now, and they’ll continue to start on Tuesdays. This may be titles that are coming on vinyl a little bit later than their CD counterparts, and we’ll ask the labels to have those street on a Tuesday. This may be catalog titles being reissued—some of which will be exclusive to indies, some of which won’t be. There will be different things every week (and they may not all be VINYL (gasp!) but our goal is to continue to give you som ething to shou t about, reasons why physical media and your stores are the best, during the week as well as on the ever-more-crowded weekends. It’s a really simple principle, and will encompass a lot of things.

1. We will update it every week with titles that we are cleared to announce. You may see announcements or solicitations before our weekly spreadsheet comes out. Please feel free to keep these spreadsheets as reference. You are going to need to know which titles are Tuesday titles. 

2. In most cases, because of shipping and distribution systems, the Vinyl Tuesday titles will arrive with the previous week’s Friday new releases. For example, 8/4 Tuesday releases will arrive with your 7/31 New Releases. You will need to make your staff aware that these titles are TUESDAY RELEASES. DO NOT SELL THEM EARLIER THAN THEIR RELEASE DATE. The spreadsheet is an easy way to keep track of these titles.THIS IS IMPORTANT: We are working hard to get labels and artists to embrace the idea of Tuesday releases, to co ntinue to give you things to drive sales during the week. We are working with them and around obstacles like shipping restrictions. We are aski ng you to honor what we’re trying to do and HOLD THE TITLES UNTIL THEIR TUESDAY RELEASE DATE. This is very important and any progress we make could be for nothing if street dates are broken.

 There will be all kinds of releases coming on Tuesdays. We’re going to be very clear on the spreadsheets if a title is exclusive, if it’s exclusive for a few days, if it’s a special color variant, if it’s a reissue, if it’s something we haven’t thought of. The titles are grouped by street date on the spreadsheet, and every week there may be titles added to previous groupings, so make sure to check the spreadsheet carefully every week. 


4. When a label or artist agrees to release a title on Tuesday, ahead of the regular Friday release days, one of the reasons they’re doing it is the promotion that it will garner, the record store love. We ask the artists to promote that those are in your stores, and encourage their fans to go to visit you for them, so for those Vinyl Tuesday titles that work for your store, that you bring in, please use your social media to promote them. The last column on the spreadsheet indicates whether there is artwork for you to access on this internal page: www.recordstoreday.com/VTART When there are other tools to promote the titles, they’ll be found on that page too.

VALUE ADD OPPORTUNITIES 
On www.recordstoreday.com we regularly promote upcoming value adds that we have worked with various labels to create. The ones we promote on the site are indie exclusives, and are available to you through your coalition, your chain or with your order from Alliance. Alliance gets an allotment of these to send to all Record Store Day participating stores who order the albums they are associated with from them. Keep in mind, though, that the allotments are limited, and will go first come first serve. 


Also, keep in mind that these value adds are created to be given out with the purchase of the accompanying full length release, so they will only be going to stores who are stocking the new release. If you're not a new release store, then this promotion isn't for you. On the site we are always careful to let people know that they should always check with their local store for availability. It is always your choice to stock any of the commercial or promotional pieces we promote on the site. Below are the street dates and titles we have added values for (as well as graphics to help you promote them, where we have those). If you are not already getting added values directly from your coalition or chain, you can contact your Alliance rep to place an order.
