Wolf Parade - Dan Boeckner, Spencer Krug, and Arlen Thompson - will release Thin Mind, the group’s fifth album for Sub Pop, on January 24th, 2020. The 10-track record was recorded by John Goodmanson at Risque Disque on Vancouver Island, BC, mixed by Goodmanson at Bogroll Studios in Seattle, WA, and mastered by Noah Mintz at Lacquer Channel Mastering in Toronto, ON. Thin Mind has sci-fi, post-apocalyptic and dystopian narratives interwoven throughout. These themes emerged while working at Risque Disque, which Boeckner jokingly describes as a Dutchman’s failed utopia, a problematic structure with a post-apocalyptic vibe: the studio is housed in a stone barn hand-built by the Dutchman in the middle of the woods, using local materials and based on his memory of a building he loved growing up in the Netherlands. Thin Mind finds the core members of Wolf Parade working as a trio, as they did on past albums Apologies to the Queen Mary and At Mount Zoomer, with songwriting duties evenly split between singers Dan Boeckner and Spencer Krug. The album includes the singles “Forest Green,” “Julia, Take Your Man Home,” and “Against the Day,” the latter of which features a rare, co-vocal performance from Boeckner and Krug.
Aurora features reimagined versions of the band’s biggest and most popular songs with special guests including Lacey Sturm (ex-Flyleaf), Scooter Ward(Cold) and Spencer Chamberlain (Underoath), to name a few. Speaking about Aurora, BREAKING BENJAMIN’s founder/frontman, Ben Burnley, had this personal message to share,”This album is a celebration of our incredible fans; for those who have been there since hearing ‘So Cold’ for the first time in 2004, and the new ones who have joined us on this amazing journey along the way. We’ve always shared a unique emotional connection to our music with our fans, and this album attributes to those dark times and euphoric ones. From wherever you joined along the road to Aurora, this one is for you. Thank you.”
ANDY SHAUF is becoming one of the most important songwriters of his generation. His songs are tuneful vignettes of small moments and big hearts. On his latest, The Neon Skyline, Shauf intertwines stories of a group of friends who frequent a local dive bar, and through them, makes poignant observations about human nature with a novelist’s detail and melancholic humor. The songwriting is down to earth, yet sophisticated and inventively melodic. The Neon Skyline is a creative leap for this already acclaimed artist.
It's country music but not as we know it which begs the question: Have these Bad Kids of 21st Century rock 'n' roll finally grown up on their ninth studio album? Are they at peace with themselves? Have they made a record their parents could listen to? The Black Lips new album 'Sing In A World That's Falling Apart' continues to flick the middle finger to one and all. This ain't another gaggle of bearded southern sons fleeing their collective suburban upbringings and collegiate music education. There aren't the usual clichés about drinking, honkytonks, and heartbreak. These are, after all, the same Black Lips who rescued the waning garage punk subgenre by not sounding or dressing their musical predecessors. They also dug contemporary hip-hop and punk and actualized themselves Like so many dramatic moments in the Black Lips career, 'Sing In A World That's Falling Apart' was born out of crisis. The band's stylistic evolution through decades of prolific touring and recording took them where no garage punk band had gone before - huge venues, network television shows, and major music festivals. Here Black Lips are at their grimiest, most dangerous and equipped with the best collection of songs since the aughts. Skidding onto the asphalt in a shower of sparks, they roll on with an unapologetic southern-fried twang, pacing the beast, every now and then dropping a psycho howl into the rubber room madness lurking underneath the truckstop fireworks. This ain't your granny's country album. And conversely this ain't your mama's Black Lips.
Vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. Includes digital download. 2020 release, the 14th studio album from the British electro-pop duo. Hotspot was mostly written and recorded in Berlin and Los Angeles and produced and mixed by Stuart Price. Features the singles "Dreamland" (featuring Years & Years) and "Burning the Heather".
Recorded over the course of a series of freewheeling, improvisatory sessions, Kingdom In My Mind is The Wood Brothers seventh studio release and their most spontaneous and experimental collection yet. A testament to the limitless creativity of the unharnessed mind, the record explores the power of our external surroundings to shape our internal worlds (and vice versa), reckoning with time, mortality, and human nature. The songs here find strength in accepting what lies beyond our control, thoughtfully honing in on the bittersweet beauty that underlies our pain and sadness with vivid character studies and unflinching self-examination. Deep as the lyrics dig, the arrangements always manage to remain buoyant and light, though, drawing from across a broad sonic spectrum to create a transportive, effervescent blend that reflects the trio s unique place in the modern musical landscape.
The Family Songbook is a tribute to the family's American heartland heritage. The album includes four recently unearthed songs by their grandfather, Carl E. Haden, friend to the Carter Family, Porter Wagoner and other icons. The songs were written during the Depression when he was in his 20s - "Who Will You Love," "Ozark Moon," "Memories of Will Rogers," "Grey Mother Dreaming." Other notable songs - "Every Time I Try" written by the triplets brother, Josh Haden; Kanye West's "Say You Will"; Americana standards "Wayfaring Stranger," "I'll Fly Away," "Wildwood Flower," "Pretty Baby," (shortened from "Didn't Leave Nobody But The Baby"). The Family Songbook features renowned musicians: Bill Frisell, Greg Leisz, Doyle Bramhall II, Don Was, Larry Taylor, Woody Jackson. The Haden Triplets are: Petra: violin, Tanya: cello, Rachel: bass, keyboards. The sisters individual credits: Petra - sought-after collaborator on violin and voice; recording and touring credits include Bill Frisell, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Nancy and Beth ("punk-vaudeville" act created by Megan Mullally and Stephanie Hunt); Rachel - toured with Todd Rundgren, lead singer on Weezer B-side, former member of that dog; Tanya - visual and animation artist.

This release is taken from the original broadcast masters, which have been remastered by Bob Ludwig at Gateway Mastering. Now available on 180g, 2 LP vinyl in gatefold package.

Glass Beach's debut album the first Glass Beach album is the first album from Glass Beach. That's a good place to start, but the album's plain & descriptive title does little to explain exactly what goes on in the hour-long adventure contained therein. The first Glass Beach album was initially self-released by the band in Spring 2019, but it's roots date back to as early as 2015 - songwriter & band leader j McLendon started demoing songs for the album when they first moved to Los Angeles & spent three years polishing those first demos into these songs with bassist Jonas Newhouse & drummer William White. On their Bandcamp page, the band describes their sound as the accumulation of jazz, new wave, synth music, and emo distorted through the lens of punk. The songs that make up the first Glass Beach album are ambitious, theatrical and chaotic. Abandoning genre limitations makes Glass Beach's talent for songwriting all the more apparent - mathy guitar leads, catchy drum grooves and the constant interplay of horns, synths, and even the intermittent theremin set the perfect scene for j's stunning vocal performance, which can shift from a charming falsetto to the lead of a sing-a-long in an instant. Run For Cover will release the first Glass Beach album on vinyl for the first time in early 2020. This 2xLP set features all fifteen songs pressed on color vinyl with expanded artwork.
Dirty Shirley is a new project combining the talents of Animal Drive's insanely talented young vocalist Dino Jelusic with the guitar pyrotechnics of Lynch Mob/ex-Dokken guitarist George Lynch. In the songwriting department, the Dirty Shirley project covers much ground, offering different influences from '80s metal to '70s and '90s sounds, showcasing George Lynch continuing his impressive run of being more inspired and creative than ever before and of course, the aforementioned killer vocals from Dino!
He’s a man Pitchfork calls “a pioneer” with a voice recognized by Rolling Stone Magazine as the sound of resilience. Now, Kirk Windstein, wielder of the sludge sledgehammer and unmistakable earthmoving bellow of Crowbar, stomps forward as a solo artist for the very first time. On a Dream In Motion, the inaugural effort from his eponymously monikered incarnation, the Dark Lord of the Southern Riff stretches his creative wings as he introduces new emotional depth and sonic texture that strengthen, rather than tarnish, the metal monolith’s career legacy and rightly revered catalog.
Though he invited in collaborators for this project, Parker is very much a solo artist on Suite for Max Brown. He constructs a digital bed of beats and samples; lays down tracks of his own on guitar, keyboards, bass, percussion, and occasionally voice; then invites musician friends to play and improvise over his melodies. But unlike a traditional jazz session, Parker doesn’t assemble a full band in the studio for a day or two of live takes. His accompanists are often working alone with Parker, reacting to what Parker has provided them, and then Parker uses those individual parts to layer and assemble into his final tracks. The process may be relatively solitary and cerebral, but the results feel like in-the-moment jams—warm-hearted, human, alive. Suite for Max Brown brims with personality, boasting the rhythmic flow of hip hop and the soulful swing of jazz.

"Authentic yet often ineffable greatness that would define Silkworm's next 11 years of activity, the reissue of In The West is a grand corrective gesture with no expiration date.'- Andrew Earles

"Like the brightened cover tweaks suggests, Silkworm's relevance was always there; it just took 25 years for some of us to notice." - Northwest Music Scene
The Comet is Coming follow up to their critically acclaimed "Trust in The Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery" with "The Afterlife" EP, their second title to be released under the Impulse Records! label. "The two records can be seen as companions, that cannot exist without each other, like day and night, light and dark, creation and destruction. They were made together, at the same time, and have always been intended to be experienced together". - Danalogue
The timeless qualities of traditional tunes can carry us across oceans and eons, linking us not only to the past but to each other as well. It was under the banner of those eternal connections that the trio of Bonny Light Horseman came together. From festival fields and a German art hub to a snowy upstate studio and everywhere in between, the astral folk outfit-comprised of Anaïs Mitchell, Eric D. Johnson (Fruit Bats, The Shins), and Josh Kaufman (The National, Bob Weir)-is mixing the ancient, mystical medium of transatlantic traditional folk music with a contemporary, collective brush. The resulting album, Bonny Light Horseman, is an elusive kind of sonic event: a bottled blend of lightning and synergy that will excite fans of multiple genres, eras, and ages. The album features fellow 37d03d artists-in-residence Michael Lewis (bass, saxophone) and JT Bates (drums) as well as Justin Vernon, Aaron Dessner, Kate Stables, Lisa Hannigan, The Staves, Christian Lee Hutson, and more. Leaving the 2018 37d03d Berlin event with roughly 60-percent of a record, the band reconvened at Dreamland Studios in Woodstock, NY, in January 2019 to finish, bringing Lewis and Bates as well as engineer Bella Blasko along with them.
Deen Castronovo (The Dead Daisies, ex-Journey), Doug Aldrich (ex-DIO, Whitesnake), and Jack Blades (Night Ranger, Damn Yankees) return with their third album, RISE. As with the first two well-received albums, Rev Saints (as the fans like to call them) are bringing back the classic melodic rock style that thrilled and delighted legions of fans in the 80s and 90s and still does today! Inspiring, uplifting vocals, soaring melodies, and musicianship to die for is what you get in spades here.

Their new album Rock Ain`t Dead shoots out hit after hit after hit! Includes guest features from Telle Smith, Hyro the Hero and Blacklisted Me.
