One of Flying Nun’s earliest releases ‘Bored Games’ (1982) was the inception of a 17 year old Shayne Carter who would later go on to be a common thread in Flying Nun bands ‘The Double Happy’s’ and ‘Straight Jacket Fits’. As most things at the age of 17, Bored Games were to be temporary, breaking up before the EP’s release over a year after its recording. What was left behind was teenaged anxst manifested in early punk styling’s that would sit comfortably in 1977’s England along side Buzzcocks and The Adverts. The EP showcases how broad Flying Nun’s sonic net cast when put beside pop darlings The Chills and The Clean. Bored Games is abrasive and fast while still capturing Flying Nun’s unique isolated essence. Re-issued for the first two presses during the 1980’s, remastered complete with insert of previously unseen photo’s at an extremely limited run.

Cosmetics bring you lost mixes from the Tuff Trax vault. In April 2011 the band went to Dub Narcotic studio in Olympia, Washington to mix what was supposed to be songs for their first album. At the studio with technician, the band were able to try some weird techniques. However, when they got back home, the band decided something wasnít quite right. We refocused and started over from scratch. A few times. These mixes sat on ice for 2 years, nobody else heard them. They only recently listened to them again with fresh ears and were surprised how much they liked them. The second release for Public Hi-Fi's Sessions Series features a single from Austin-based artist, Dana Falconberry. Between full-band sessions at Public Hi-Fi for Falconberry's forthcoming LP, she and Jim Eno spent a few days in December collaborating with different techniques and sounds for a few extra songs. This experiment birthed "Palmless" and "Seven Hills," two ethereal soundscapes that create a bed of synthesized tones and rhythms to underpin Falconberry's gently persuasive vocal delivery. "Palmless" was inspired by the first flight of two baby great blue heron birds, and "Seven Hills" is a contemplative piece about the woes of leaving magnificently inspiring places while on tour. Eno produced, engineered and mixed both tracks and also provided most of the arrangements and drum sequences. The vinyl release's custom packaging includes silk-screened artwork for the cover, and each 12” comes with a high quality digital download card. This will be the third release on Eno's Public Hi-Fi Records along with Austin's B3 trio, Dupree, and Norwegian songsmith Sondre Lerche.

David went on to compose "Start Movin'" for Sal Mineo and "Rockin' Shoes" for the Ames Brothers. He continued to write songs for Elvis throughout the '50s and '60s, (including the Presley hit "I Got Stung" that was later covered by The Beatles). Other Hess tunes performed by The King include "Come Along," and "Make Me Know You're Mine" (first performed by Conway Twitty). "Your Hand, Your Heart, Your Love" became a 60s hit when it was performed by Andy Williams. In 1963 David wrote and recorded "Speedy Gonzalez," which became a number one single for Pat Boone, selling more than eight million copies worldwide. David then recorded two solo albums for Kapp Records, again topping the charts, this time with a Top Ten folk hit called "Two Brothers." After a career as a record company executive, including becoming head of A&R at Mercury Records (where he co-wrote the Grammy award winning 1970 rock opera ‘The Naked Carmen’) in New York and working with PolyGram Records’ German affiliate in the 1970s, Hess took on the role of actor, writer, director and producer in the movie industry.
