Our year-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of Woodstock kicks off with this 3LP reconstruction of the original Woodstock soundtrack in glorious mono. Sourced primarily from the original soundboard recordings (with a few selections drawn from mono roughs and the ultra-rare promotional mono mix, where the soundboard tapes weren’t available) it’s a fresh perspective on some very familiar repertoire, and includes the full-length versions of many tracks that were shortened on the original release. If you’d been in the audience at Woodstock, this is what you would have heard coming out of the loudspeakers! The tracklisting follows the same sequence as the original 1970 Woodstock 3LP, and features performances by Arlo Guthrie, CSNY, The Who, Richie Havens, Joe Cocker, Santana, Country Joe & The Fish, John Sebastian, Joan Baez, Ten Years After, Jefferson Airplane, Canned Heat, Sly & The Family Stone, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Jimi Hendrix, and (of course!) Sha Na Na.
