KONTRA PLAK is an independent local record store ( www.kontrarecords.com ) that has been newly ( June 2012 )opened at the very heart of Istanbul's Beyoğlu district. The shop is owned and run by Okan Aydın ( long time radio programmer, DJ, blogger and music critic ) who has more than 15 years of experience in marketing and music business. The store is quite roomy with its 80 sqm of space. The focus is on vinyl and the store has a huge selection of brand new and second hand vinyls from electronics to various sub genres of rock, from jazz to classical and to alternative. The store also has a impressive selection of experimental and abstract vinyls, CDs and DVDs. You can also find music related bags, t-shirts, books and also brand new or second hand turntables and various accessories.

The shop is located very close to very famous Istiklal street at Beyoglu / Taksim district. You should just walk down like 80 meters on Yeni Carsi Cad. which can be find at the cross point of Galatasaay High School and Yapi Kredi Bank on İstiklal Street.
