The actress patiently explained that she's no Lindsay Lohan or Paris Hilton, cranking out trendy dancepop to reflect a barren lifestyle, and seemed earnest when she wished that Anywhere I Lay My Head could be a record people discover by word-of-mouth from friends. Johansson has amassed a pretty damn credible film career, beginning with 2001's Ghost World (well, actually she debuted in 1994's notorious bomb North, but let's not elaborate) and leading up through this winter's The Other Boleyn Girl. So it's not that surprising that her musical tastes veer toward the obscure and challenging as well. Her husky voice highly suits Waits classics from Bone Machine, Small Change, Real Gone, Alice, Rain Dogs and Big Time. David Bowie even lends an assist, and one original, "Song for Jo," is included as well.
