Bear Family Records delivers the soundtrack to this summer! Timelessly cool instrumental recordings at the highest technical level from the heyday of surf rock and R'n'R. Dusty? Not at all. As soon as these sounds boom out of the speakers, the need for summer, the sun and beach parties is triggered in us. These instrumentals describe the fascination of surfing, the immense power of water and waves, dangerous reefs, shallows and rocks. Pimped-up hot rods and muscle cars are parked on the shoreline, inviting you to race along the coastal highways under the mercilessly burning sun. All this and more is conveyed in these 34 songs. In contrast to some loveless compilations, we deliver surf hits in lesser-known versions like Pipeline by The Challengers or Dick Dale's Misirlou as Misirlou Twist. Pop icons such as the Beach Boys were deliberately omitted. The recordings, some of which are rare, deal with the above-mentioned subjects and demonstrate the lasting influence they had on popular music, especially in the 1960s.
