No one in the New York crossover metal scene could make a guy laugh like Carnivore front man Pete Steele. Whether it was the vomit-in-the-toilet track "Jack Daniels and Pizza," which opened the band's second album 'Retaliation' or the crudely drawn obscene Sharpie renderings Steele would scribble on passed out musicians and crew members. Steele was a one of a kind and his perverse, oddball sense of humor infiltrated and enhanced his viciously aggressive blend of hardcore and metal. Just take two of 'Retaliation's' many standouts, "Angry Neurotic Catholics" and "S.M.D. (Suck My Dick)." "For 'Retaliation', I really wanted to make an album that was half Black Sabbath-type metal and half ripping hardcore," he said before the album's original reissue in 1987.
