More Info:

The 1950s and 60s have profoundly influenced Abe, so much so that he often wishes he could physically experience that era. Although that isn't possible, Abe decided to reimagine and recreate his own version of Japan during that time. The result is 'Hotel New Yuma'. This album isn't a time machine taking you back to those days, nor is it a time capsule filled with elements of the past. It's not an imitation or nostalgia either. Instead, Abe, deeply inspired by his love for the 50s and 60s, unintentionally created an entirely new interpretation of that era-one that is completely his own. 'Hotel New Yuma' is a refreshingly unique work, showcasing Abe's sense of musical exploration. Like Haruomi Hosono, whom Abe admires, redefined the genre of 'Exotica' in the 50s and 60s by making it his own, Abe similarly draws from those decades but adds his own twist, creating a one-of-a-kind pop collection. The album evokes imagery of 'Hajime Hana and The Crazy Cats,' 'The Drifters,' and the dreams of distant lands held by the Japanese of yesteryear. It's a sound that captures the essence of that era, but it's not simply nostalgic. Instead, it's a new kind of music draped in the spirit of the past, which also ties into global perspectives on Asia-such as artists like Ginger Root, influenced by city pop. Whether it's someone who grew up during that era or a younger generation hearing this style for the first time, there's something in this album for everyone to enjoy. The music is both familiar and fresh, making it universally appealing. After the album's release, Abe will embark on a U. S. tour in December 2024, performing in 10 cities. Notably, he will be the opening act for Brainstory, a trio heavily promoted by New York label BIG CROWN RECORDS, at one of the shows. Abe's previous U. S. tour experience has likely heightened his awareness of what it means to communicate music across borders, an influence that can be felt in the creation of this album. Abe's uninhibited creativity shines throughout 'Hotel New Yuma,' and once you hear it, you'll undoubtedly be captivated by his extraordinary and whimsical talent. LISTEN: https://youtu.
