Bruckner's Symphony No. 9, which Bruckner worked on until just before his death, naturally expresses a sublimity that seems to be filled with resignation. Although it is an unfinished work, it is extremely complete in terms of content, and as the composer says, it is truly a work dedicated to God. This recording is also known as a masterpiece that captures the distinctive tone of the Vienna Philharmonic's instruments with realistic texture and the rich sound that fills the Zofienzaal, as the young Mehta conducted the Vienna Philharmonic at the age of 29.
