More Info:

Marty Robbins was an artist who switched effortlessly between country music and the pop charts - but for many, the singer born Martin Robinson in Arizona in 1925 will forever be associated with these timeless songs of the Old West. As well as writing and recording songs that celebrated the Old West, Robbins starred in a number of western films such as Raiders Of Old California, Badge Of Marshal Brennan and Buffalo Gun. He also appeared on the soundtracks of the "superb" Gary Cooper western The Hanging Tree and John Wayne's epic The Alamo. 'Gunfighter Ballads & Trail Songs' is perhaps Robbin's most famous album. In 2016 The Library Of Congress added the album to it's register, in recognition of it's "cultural, historic and artistic significance". The song 'The Strawberry Roan' influenced singer 'Chapel Roan's stage name, having been played to her by her grandfather 'Chapel' as a child, hence 'Chapel Roan.'
