More Info:

Hotwired, minuscule glamourpuss Cherry Wainer was famous for her appearances on Jack Good's "Oh Boy!" and "Boy Meets Girls" as the Hammond queen in Lord Rockingham's XI, gurning ferociously at the TV cameras every week. Hailing from South Africa, she was based in the UK between 1955 and 1963, during which she proved to be a chameleon figure, able to move easily between the Variety circuit and Rock & Roll. Between 1958-61 she cut a half-dozen or so singles, an EP and an LP, across the musical genres. This compilation anthologises those sides, the first time that these recordings have been thus compiled. Also included are a quartet of bonus tracks; one from a rare-as-hens-teeth South African R&R LP; a live clip from "Oh Boy"; and a pair of Rockingham B-sides on which Cherry's Hammond can be heard to fine effect.
