More Info:

Originally released in 2001 by Metal Blade Records, Jacobs Dream's "Theater of War" stands as a monumental American power metal album. The band's self-titled debut in 2000 effectively blended elements of Fates Warning, Iron Maiden, and Queensrÿche, and "Theater of War" continues to build on that impressive foundation. While some might argue that Jacobs Dream's originality isn't their strongest attribute, their ability to write compelling songs is undeniable.Highlights of the album include "Sanctuary," a fierce rocker with excellent vocal melodies, especially in the chorus, and "Theater of War," which showcases the band's ability to change pace swiftly. "Traces of Grace" features an almost Metallica-like opening and robust riffs, while "Wisdom" and "The Warning" display the band's knack for dynamic pacing and strong riff-driven songs. "Sarah Williams" stands out as a powerful ballad, telling an emotional story from the perspective of a remorseful drunk driver. "De Machina Est Deo" is a fast and furious instrumental that recalls European power metal bands and Metallica. Vocalist David Taylor delivers performances reminiscent of Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) and Geoff Tate (Queensrÿche), with perhaps a hint of Geddy Lee. While the music evokes comparisons to Queensrÿche, Iron Maiden, and Metallica, Jacobs Dream clearly carves out their own unique style. The 2024 Retroactive Records reissue of "Theater of War" features a deluxe layout, including an 8-page lyrics booklet and a jewel case. Remastered by Rob Colwell (Flotsam & Jetsam, Nevermore, Believer, Coroner), this edition brings added warmth, depth, and power to an already magnificent album. Limited to just 500 copies and part of the elite Metal Icon Series, this reissue is a must-have for fans and collectors alike. Don't miss the chance to own this classic-grab your copy now!
