Father Miguel Hidalgo declared Mexicos independence with his famous cry of "Viva Mexico". In 1821, Mexico defeated the Spanish and gained full independence. Mexico was seeking their independence once again against the French, The Franco-Mexican war with Mexicos Victory on May 5, 1862 is now known as Cinco de Mayo.
