More Info:

Jon Pareles of The New York Times once wrote "If Aimee Mann had fended off cynicism, she might sound like Kendall Jane Meade... turning folk-rock into stately pop, wrapping vulnerability and longing in quietly radiant arrangements" and Spin Magazine claims "Meade hails straight from the Carly Simon School of Confessional Songwriting." Meade's influences include 60s & 70s folk and pop songwriters like Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Francoise Hardy, Margot Guryan, Carole King, Christine McVie, and indie pop icons like Camera Obscura and The Softies. An accomplished singer and musician who has contributed to albums or played/sang live with Sparklehorse, Helium, The Spinanes, Lloyd Cole, Gramercy Arms, Anders Parker, Stars, and more, Meade's original songs have been featured on shows like Grey's Anatomy and Chuck. Her most recent collaborations include songs with Kris Gruen, Leroy From The North, and an EP of John Prine covers with Jon Derosa of Aarktica. After going through a challenging time in her personal life, Meade completed her new solo album, SPACE, produced by Charles Newman (Magnetic Fields, Bones of J.R. Jones, Soko). Recorded in LA, NYC, and her hometown of Detroit, MI, she leaned on her musical community, old and new, to help guide the songs to beautiful completion. Special guests include Mary Timony, Jennifer O'Connor, Margaret White, Anna Padgett, Eli Wulfmeir of Leroy From the North, Matt Van, and Alie Byland. The result is raw, real, and ultimately radiant-a reflection of each stage of her healing process."I started writing this album with a very broken heart. The process of creating it, fueled by the power of music, friendship, and community, brought the pieces closer to whole than I ever dreamed possible. My mission for this album was to process some really raw feelings-with the hope that it might help others to do the same."-KJM
