Double vinyl LP pressing. Tony, Emmy and Grammy Award winner Hugh Jackman and Tony Award winner Sutton Foster lead an all-star cast in the Broadway revival of Meredith Willson's The Music Man. Often cited as the quintessential American musical, the story centers around a traveling salesman/conman and a prudish spinster librarian who together find that love and acceptance transcends people's differences. Set in the fictional city of River City, Iowa the musical's most famous number is the rousing Seventy-Six Trombones. The Music Man, which features a book, music, and lyrics by Meredith Willson, tells the story of what happens when con artist Harold Hill arrives in River City and falls in love with the straight-laced librarian, Marian. The work first opened on Broadway in 1957 at the Majestic Theatre. A 2000 revival played the Neil Simon Theatre. Jerry Zaks directs the new production of the musical, which also features vocal and dance arrangements by David Chase, orchestrations by Tunick, and music direction by Patrick Vaccariello.
