In contrast to his more famous classical contemporaries, Antonio Rosetti was a "provincial" composer in terms of his external living circumstances. But the suspicion that he was only active for a quarter century in Swabian Wallerstein because his level was not high enough for the great centres of music has proven to be completely without merit.
