George C. Scott and Susannah York both give exceptional performances in this 1971 adaptation of the beloved classic from Charlotte Bronte. This movie was filmed on location in England near Howath Parsonage in picturesque North Yorkshire. Compelling, sad, tragic, yet hopeful tale of a young orphan girl, Jane Eyre who is sent to the cruel institution of Lowood. Upon leaving Lowood, Jane takes a position as governess at Thornfield Hall to a girl named Adele. Jane is a plain woman of low social class, but makes the best of her situation. Thornfield holds many secrets and despite mysterious occurrences, Jane and Edward Rochester, owner of Thornfield and Adele's guardian, fall in love.
