Yeah, it's Disney. And yeah, it doesn't fit through the Pixar loophole. But Aladdin is not without its charms. Say what you will about the motormouth treacle of Robin Williams, but his Genie allowed Disney animators to co-opt some of the manic energy and surrealist verve of the best Looney Tunes shorts. And with the possible exception of "A Whole New World," even the songs are low on sap. And the monkey! Who doesn't love monkeys?
