George Marinelli - Except Always / A brand new 2 cd set from George Marinelli, Bonnie Raitt's lead guitarist for the past 20 years. From a very early age, George was recognized for his talent on guitar. In the late 70s and early 80's, he played with Andrew Gold in LA and later became a member of Billy Vera's band Billy and the Beaters. In 1982 he became a founding member of Bruce Hornsby and the Range and won a Grammy for Best New Artist. Then in 1991 George moved from LA to Nashville and became a much sought after session player playing with Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, Dixie Chicks, Robert Earl Keen, Ray Charles, Duane Jarvis, Faith Hill, Randy Scruggs, Wynonna Judd, Cliff Richard, Trisha Yearwood, Garth Brooks, Colin Hay. Peter Cetera, Rascal Flatts, Cidny Bullens, Maia Sharp, Art Garfunkel and many others. 1993 Joined Bonnie Raitt's band. Recorded albums: 1994 Longing In Their Hearts 1995 Road Tested 2002 Silver Lining 2005 Souls Alike 2012 Slipstream 2016 Dig In Deep 2022 Just Like That In addition to all that work, in 1999 George found time to tour as a band member with Jackson Brown, Shawn Colvin, Bruce Hornsby and Bonnie. In 2003 he toured Europe as James Taylor's lead guitar player. And if that wasn't enough, George has recorded 6 solo albums that were released digitally only with the proceeds going to various charities. This new CD consists of 9 new songs and a retrospective second cd that contains 17 songs from those earlier albums. George has been called A life-long musician whose list of playing and band credits is as impressive as it is long highlights the respect his fellow rockers have for this talented guitarist.
