The Sound of Music has become one of the most enduring and successful musicals among the great American musicals, featuring beloved standards such as “My Favorite Things,” “Edelweiss,” “Do-Re-Mi” and “The Sound of Music.” This 1959 Broadway production—starring Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel– won five Tony Awards including “Best Musical.” Upon original release, this cast album spent 16 weeks as number 1 on the Billboard chart. Mastered from the original 3-track master tape, this 60th anniversary 2-LP edition is pressed on 180-gram vinyl.
